https://tohokumarathon.com/runner/ This event, which started in 2014 with the aim of supporting recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, has the mission of “connecting Tohoku and the world through marathons,” and has attracted more than 30,000 runners and approximately 230,000 visitors over the past 10 events. We welcomed people from Japan and abroad. Thanks to everyone’s support, we are celebrating our 11th time promoting the Tohoku food provided at aid stations and the appeal of Tohoku’s climate both domestically and internationally. The 2025 event will include the full marathon (capacity 500 participants), which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be revived for the first time in six years, half marathon (capacity 3000 participants), parent-child run (capacity 150 groups, 300 participants), and races for people with disabilities. There are 4 events in total, including the KIDS Smile Run, which is aimed at children. In addition to holding the Tome Food Festival and the Tohoku Sake Festival at the same time, we are planning various events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tome City’s establishment as a city. Features of the Tohoku Fudo Marathon (1) 10 aid stations: Each aid station will offer gourmet food from all over Tohoku. This event is nicknamed “the only marathon where participants gain weight after the finish line.” (2) A marathon event that you can enjoy without running: A food and sake festival will be held at the same time. (3) Costume based on ranking: We have set the same costume theme as the Medoc Marathon and encourage costumes. 2025 is “La Mer (sea)”. The prize for the best costume award is bigger than the prize for the first place runner. (4) Sustainable: As a sustainable and environmentally friendly initiative, we encourage you to bring your own chopsticks and cup. Additionally, we are conducting measurements using QR codes, electronic distribution of completion certificates, and electronic distribution of pamphlets.
