Press release: November 8, 2024 First phase of renewal for Zenrin Museum’s 5th anniversary: Saturday, December 7, 2024 A new theater will be opened on the 4th floor of River Walk Kitakyushu ~ Experience the history related to maps through video ~ Zenrin Museum (Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Director: Wataru Sato) will undergo renovations in preparation for its 5th anniversary in June 2025. As the first step, starting Saturday, December 7, 2024, we will expand the area to the 4th floor of the commercial building of River Walk Kitakyushu and establish a new theater where you can watch video exhibitions. ■Renewal overview This museum is a map museum managed by Zenrin, a map company headquartered in Kitakyushu City. It opened in June 2020 with the purpose of “inheriting and promoting map culture” and will celebrate its 5th anniversary in June 2025. Aiming to create a space where customers can continue to enjoy exhibits more deeply, this renovation will expand the area to the 4th floor of the commercial building, which is easier to access, in addition to the current 14th floor of the office building. We will relocate the reception desk and create a new video exhibition theater where you can experience the world view of the permanent exhibition. ■Features of the new area After registering and before viewing the exhibits on the 14th floor, you can watch a concept movie that recreates the “story of maps that reflect history” in the newly constructed theater. Viewing it in conjunction with the museum’s permanent exhibits will deepen your understanding of the exhibition story.
