collaboration between TBM and JTB Shoji Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President Executive Officer Yuji Kato), which operates commercial business for hotels and inns. From October onwards, four types of LIMEX Bags will be available at Mitsui Garden Hotels nationwide: laundry bags, sanitary bags, multi-purpose bags, and public bath bags. ■ History of recruitment As environmental issues such as climate change and plastic waste become more serious, companies are required to operate their businesses more sustainably than ever before. Amid these social conditions, the Mitsui Fudosan Group has set its group vision of “coexistence and
coexistence,” “linking diverse values,” and “realizing a sustainable society,” as symbolized by the “&” mark. & EARTH”, we are contributing to social and economic development and preservation of the global environment. This time, the environmentally friendly LIMEX Bag has been adopted as part of efforts to reduce environmental impact at Mitsui Garden Hotels, which is operated by Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management. The hotel chain has been considering strengthening efforts to reduce environmental impact, including at Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza Tsukiji, which opened in September. The most important point in this decision was the environmental performance of LIMEX Bag, which is expected to reduce the amount of plastic used and reduce CO2 emissions. By switching to “LIMEX Bag”, it is expected that compared to the plastic bags currently in use*1, the amount of plastic used will be reduced by approximately 42%, and greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by approximately 22%*2. . In addition, by changing the thickness of the “LIMEX Bag”, one of the deciding factors for its adoption was its physical properties, which could meet needs such as transmission prevention. *1 Multi-purpose bags are compared with general LDPE products. *2 This is an approximate value based on TBM estimation and is not a guaranteed value. There is a possibility of change depending on data acquisition status etc. Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated from raw material procurement to incineration (excluding punching and transportation processes). TBM will take this initiative as an opportunity to actively promote the spread of “LIMEX Bag” in a variety of industries, including the hotel industry both domestically and internationally. ■ Features of LIMEX Bag ・Reducing the amount of petroleum-derived plastics Since the main raw material is inorganic substances such as calcium carbonate (limestone), the amount of petroleum-based plastic used can be reduced compared to conventional plastics. ・Reducing greenhouse gas emissions including CO2 It is possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions including CO2 from raw material procurement to disposal. ・Compatible with existing shapes and sizes Because we can utilize existing manufacturing equipment, we can produce products of the same shapes and sizes as before, such as plastic bags and shopper bags. ■ TBM Co., Ltd.
