We will be holding the “Digital x Hokusai” [Quick Chapter] Part 2″ exhibition, “True Painter: The Path of Creation and Innovation.” – NTT
ArtTechnology Inc. (Representative Director and President: Manabu Kunieda, hereinafter referred to as “NTT ArtTechnology”) collaborated with Arstechne Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Iwao Kubota, hereinafter referred to as “Arstechne”) to digitize the Higashimachi festival stall in high definition.・We will introduce the world that Hokusai tried to create beyond the realm of painting as a “true painter”, focusing on the four ceiling paintings and decorative dolls of the Kamimachi Festival float *1. 1. Exhibition overview NTT East, NTT ArtTechnology, and Arstechne have previously held the “Digital x Hokusai [Prologue]” exhibition *2, the “Digital x Hokusai [Hasho]” exhibition *3, the “Digital x Hokusai” special exhibition *4, and the “Digital × Hokusai [Quick Chapter] Part 1” exhibition*5 was held, providing a new art appreciation experience using high-definition digital data, and promoting contributions to regional revitalization through this experience. The newly held “Digital x Hokusai [Kyusho] Part 2” exhibition will introduce Hokusai’s life path, as he aimed to become a “true painter” and eventually went beyond painting to the point of creating space-time productions. I will. This exhibition divides Hokusai’s life into six periods, and introduces works representative of each period, as well as the meaning and influence that Hokusai’s creative activities had on society at the time. We will also consider this from a modern perspective. The final chapter, Chapter 6, features
high-definition reproductions of the Higashimachi Matsuri Yatai and Uemachi Matsuri Yatai (both Nagano Prefectural Treasures) and their ceiling paintings, which were previously only available at the Hokusai Museum in Obuse. You can appreciate every detail with the newly developed 3D digital application. In particular, for the Kamimachi festival floats, Hokusai supervised the decorative dolls “Osonsho” and “Oryu” installed on the second floor, as well as the ceiling paintings “Otokoro” and “Onnaro” and their respective border paintings. Together with this, you can experience Hokusai’s time-space production.
