Chunichi Shimbun Co., Ltd. Press release: November 8, 2024 Unraveling the unknown exchanges between the “solitary painter” Klee. The first exhibition “Paul Klee Exhibition: Constellations of Creation” is being held! “Paul Klee Exhibition: Constellations of Creation” will be held at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (Higashi Ward, Nagoya City) from Saturday, January 18, 2025 to Sunday, March 16, 2025. It will be held. “This world will never understand me, for I live not only with the dead, but also with the unborn.” This quote by Paul Klee was used in the sales strategy of galleries that sold Klee’s work in 1920, promoting his image as a solitary contemplative artist. It is true that Klee’s works may be mysterious. However, like many other avant-garde artists who lived in the same era, Klee was also a person who survived difficult times while providing inspiration and sharing dreams with his peers. did. While confronting the fundamental tragedy of life, Klee evoked light through line and color, depicting the energy of life in abstraction. By placing the work in its historical context, it will take on a new look. In collaboration with the Paul Klee Center in Switzerland, this exhibition features a wide range of people and information, including comparisons with works by artists with whom Klee interacted, and references to valuable materials from the time. This exhibition re-examines Klee within the constellations of his life and traces the trajectory of his creation over the course of his life. This is a new attempt to approach Klee’s direct and indirect interactions with contemporary artists, rather than portraying him as a genius who transcends history or as a solitary artist introspecting alone in his studio. ■Highlights ・I’m back after 30 years!
