In January 2025, the 10th anniversary orchestra concert of Junko Yagami, who is active both domestically and internationally as the queen of Japanese AOR, will finally begin. (The first performance with the orchestra was held in May 2015 at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.) The festival stages are the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater Concert Hall, the Hyogo Prefectural Arts Center Great Hall, and the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Great Hall, the hall of fame for classical music. In the highest-quality hall, the world-recognized music and evolving singing voice of Junko Yagami (recipient of the Women’s Songwriters Hall of Fame Award in Washington, D.C., USA in 2022) will be performed along with a gorgeous and rich orchestral sound. Co-starring will be Naoya Iwaki Pops Orchestra (NIPO), who are at the forefront of the new era classical and pop music scene. Up-and-coming young string musicians gather under the direction of Naoya Iwaki, who is currently active in Japan and the United States. They poetically and dynamically perform worldviews such as “Mizuiro no Ame”, “Purple Town”, and “TERRA ~ here we will stay”, which expresses wishes for the future of the earth. “It’s been 10 years since my first orchestra performance, when my parents said to me, “I’m glad I lived this long!” With Naoya Iwaki’s arrangement and NIPO’s performance, I think everyone will love hit songs like “Mizuiro no Ame” and the great song “TERRA” even more.” This shows Yagami’s strong feelings towards co-starring with an orchestra, which is constantly evolving and deepening. The starting performance in Nagoya on January 5, 2025 is Junko Yagami’s birthday commemoration performance. Junko Yagami’s singing voice will ring in the new year with the festive cheers of local music fans. At the final performance (Tokyo), pianist Tetsu Shioya, who is active in a variety of fields beyond genres, will make a special appearance. The ultimate collaboration between Yagami’s dramatic singing voice and the talented pianist Shioya & Iwaki’s NIPO has been realized.
