Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra UNIFIL was originally the Japan New Symphony Orchestra, which was formed in 1973, and was renamed the Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997, holding its first regular concert in April of the same year. They have held over 100 independent performances such as regular concerts and masterpiece concerts, and have gained the support of classical music lovers for their high-quality performances of famous pieces. The “Hatsuyume Concert”, which began in 2001 with the support of Ota City and other local organizations, will be held for the 21st time in 2022, and since 2009 it has been co-hosted with the Tokyo Jiyugaoka Rotary Club, Meguro Ward, and the Meguro Arts Foundation. We hold “Fureai Concerts for Parents and Children” and actively develop activities that are rooted in the local community. Furthermore, in 2009, we received requests from the Agency for Cultural Affairs for the “Project to Discover the Charm of Performing Arts” and “Excellent Performing Arts Experience Project for Children,” and we held numerous performances in each prefecture of Kyushu and Okinawa, inspiring the local community. The circle is also steadily expanding. Opera performances include “La Bohème,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” “The Elisir of Love,” “The Barber of Seville,” and “Cavalleria” at Tokyo Opera Produce, Japan Opera Foundation, Miramare Opera, and Shibuya City Opera. He has received high acclaim for his works such as “Rusticana”, “Jester”, and “Etoile”. In 2009, it expanded into a new structure as a general incorporated association, and is currently an associate member of the Japan Orchestra Federation.
