Umikaji Halloween started with the desire to “enjoy the local people at Umikaji Terrace” and “liven up the southern part of the prefecture” Umikaji Terrace has been steadily increasing the number of visitors since its opening in 2015, but as the number of visitors has increased, local Okinawans have started to shy away from Umikaji Terrace, saying it is a crowded place with tourists and foreigners. The voices were also increasing. As more and more local customers are visiting the area, we as a company in Okinawa Prefecture have a strong desire to “want local people to enjoy Umikaji Terrace” and “use Umikaji Terrace as an opportunity to further enliven the southern part of Okinawa Prefecture.” During the large-scale renovation in 2017, we focused on attracting tenants that would please local people. The secretariat has been discussing what we can do to get more locals to come to Umikaji Terrace, and we are coordinating an event where they can tour around Umikaji Terrace, saying, “First of all, let them know what kind of shops are there.” I entered. At that time, there were few events nationwide that children could participate in, so we held the first “Umikaji Halloween” in 2021, thinking, “Let’s hold the prefecture’s No. 1 event that people with children can safely participate in.”
