Class situation 1. Improving the financial literacy of high school students is currently a major issue, and when Sakuragaoka High School is holding a special financial education class for second-year students, our representative Yamaguchi will be volunteering as a volunteer lecturer, following on from the year before and last year. I was invited. This time as well, we held one class (50 minutes) each for two classes of second-year high school students. The themes of the classes include “How to make money doing what you love,” “How to start a business,” and “Asset management for retirement funds (NISA, iDeCo),” including the meaning of earning money and the importance of asset management. , we talked about content that will help high school students improve their financial literacy. The students listened intently to Yamaguchi’s lecture, perhaps because the lecture was about finance, which they are not usually familiar with. I was conscious of teaching things that are not learned in regular classes. At first, some students seemed to have negative images of “earning money” and “rich people,” but I’m glad that their images changed to positive ones as they took the course. I think so. Many students felt that investing “seems to have gambling-like elements” and that “it’s risky and scary,” but by making
diversified investments while using NISA and iDeCo’s tax-exempt allowances, they were able to reduce the risks. They seemed to understand the benefits of using compound interest for long-term investment, while also controlling the risk.
