The international environmental NGO Greenpeace Japan (Minato-ku, Tokyo) is Saturday, November 30 , at Space Nakameguro in Meguro, Tokyo, to coincide with the 5th Intergovernmental Conference (INC5) to discuss the international treaty on combating plastic pollution, which will be held in Busan, South Korea from November 25th. Parents and children will have fun solving plastic problems. We will be holding an educational event “Reuse shopping experience for parents and children – From the era of disposable plastics to the era of reuse.” On the day of the event, there will be a movie showing on the theme of plastic pollution, as well as a takeout experience using the containers you bring or the reusable container rental service. In order to solve the plastic problem, it is not only necessary to rely on the autonomy of individuals, but also the efforts of the businesses that produce and use the plastic, and the event will lead to an increase in the need for reuse services and the expansion of initiatives on the business side. About the screening Screening: “Microplastic Story: The year we create in 2050” Japanese version Original title: “Microplastic Madness” (2019, USA, 76 minutes) A feature-length documentary film that follows the two-year journey of fifth-graders from an elementary school in Brooklyn, New York, as they learn about the plastic pollution problem, explore the root of the problem from their own perspective, and take action toward a solution. It has been shown in 44 film festivals around the world and won eight awards. About reuse shopping experience Each participant should bring their own containers such as Tupperware, their own bottles, cutlery, etc. There are stores around the venue that have introduced reusable containers and stores that support My Containers and My Bottle.Use the map created for this event to find stores that have adopted reusable containers, or store your own containers. I will try the new store to see if they will let me bring in my own bottle. After lunch, each participant will share what they noticed and their impressions from their reusable lunch experience.
