Sea and Japan Project Public Relations Office Press release: November 11, 2024 “Spo GOMI Koshien 2024 Okayama Prefectural Tournament” winning team “Futakotamagawa Gakuen Team” Tamano High School students paid a courtesy visit to the Okayama Prefectural Office Tuesday, November 5, 2024 “Spo GOMI Koshien” is an event in which high school students between the ages of 15 and 18 form teams of three, pick up trash within a designated area within a 60-minute time limit, and compete for points based on quality and quantity. The purpose of this event is to encourage people to take on the problem of trash in their towns and oceans as their own, by having fun picking up trash with friends as a gentle sport. The Futako Tamagawa Gakuen Team, made up of three current students of Tamano High School (Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, Principal: Osamu Fujiwara), won the “Spo GOMI Koshien 2024 Okayama Prefecture Tournament” held on September 21, 2024. We paid a courtesy visit to Shigeyuki Okuma, Director of the Okayama Prefecture Department of Environment and Culture, to report on the results of the tournament. This event was held as part of the marine litter countermeasure project “Ocean and Japan Project – CHANGE FOR THE BLUE” promoted by the Nippon
