The Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kumamoto University will be co-sponsoring with the “Civil Engineering Day” Kumamoto Executive Committee, and will hold the following “Civil Engineering x Philosophy Cafe – Civil engineering university students and high school students will talk in the city.” Philosophy Café is an event where participants discuss themes related to our daily lives and society, with a drink in hand and the support of a facilitator. “Doboku” came to be used as a translation of “Civil Engineering” after the Meiji era, and in the early modern period it was called “fusho”, a technical system for planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and managing infrastructure such as roads and rivers.
