Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Press release: November 12, 2024 The 11th installment of the Calorie Mate Entrance Examination Support Series – New CM “Each Tones” version released – Adopts a wind orchestra arrangement of Reiwa’s graduation song “Bokura Mata” – Depicts the days when three members of the brass band work hard towards their respective entrance exams There is also a special graphic drawn by manga artist Shinichi Ishizuka. On air from Wednesday, November 13, 2024 Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo) will release the 11th commercial to support test takers for Calorie Mate, a balanced nutritional food that can easily supply the five major nutrients necessary for the human body. It will be aired from Wednesday, March 13th. More than 10 years have passed since Calorie Mate started its commercial to support test takers in 2012, and the environment surrounding test takers has changed significantly. As the rate of admission to universities increases, the entrance examination methods are becoming more diverse year by year, and even if they aim to attend the same university, today’s students have a variety of entrance examinations, such as recommendation entrance examinations, comprehensive selection (formerly AO entrance examinations), and general entrance examinations. You have a choice. However, what always remains the same is the way the students continue to work towards their dreams, “immersing themselves” in what they have to do in front of them. Calorie Mate would like to be a presence that is always close to such test takers. In this commercial, the spotlight is on students who are taking multiple exams for the first time. This is a story about three high school friends who are best friends and aim to pass the same exam through different types of entrance exams: general entrance exam, recommendation entrance exam, and comprehensive selection (formerly AO entrance exam). Also, the theme of this commercial is “each tone”. Chikaede Kiyoshima, Noa Nakata, and Saki Hamao will play the roles of three best friends who each play a different instrument in the brass band and create beautiful harmony. The three members leave their favorite brass band for the exam and take on a different format, expressed through the different tones played by the three members. It depicts how each of them worries about their goals, and at times has conflicts, but they strive for each other while caring for each other. The commercial song is SG’s “Bokura Mata”, a popular Reiwa graduation song. Even though they are separated from their friends who shared their joys and sorrows and begin to go their separate ways, they believe that they will meet again with a smile on their faces. It vividly expresses the expectations for the future that high school students have as they prepare for entrance exams and graduation. In addition, the graphics of this commercial will be posted on trains and in station premises from November 18, 2024 (Monday). The graphics that will be posted on the B4 concourse of Shibuya Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line from Monday, November 18, 2024, were drawn by manga artist Shinichi Ishizuka. “Each tone” edition: https://youtu.be/p7te_aADV_U

Depicts diversified exam formats such as general exams, recommendation entrance exams, and comprehensive selection (formerly AO entrance exams). • The graphics use
illustrations drawn by manga artist Shinichi Ishizuka. • The commercial song uses a wind orchestra arrangement of SG’s “Bokura Mata”, which is popular as a Reiwa graduation song! Pay attention to the harmony that expresses support for the examinees. ■ Overview of “Each tone” edition In addition to the general examination,
examination formats are diversifying, including recommendation entrance examinations and comprehensive selection (formerly AO entrance examination). The traditional study style of “sitting at a desk for long hours and solving past questions” is no longer the norm. Also, because the exam dates vary depending on the type of exam, the timing for starting studying and passing the exam will vary from person to person. In this commercial, three high school friends who are best friends begin to walk their own paths in order to take on different types of entrance exams, and while they are encouraged by the memories of their time in the brass band and the sounds of their friends’ instruments, they strive towards their goals. I am drawing a figure. The three of them left their beloved friends and started walking towards their dreams. In scenes where each of the girls is immersed in what they need to do, Calorie Mate is depicted as supporting them behind the scenes. The song is a wind orchestra arrangement of SG’s “Bokura Mata,” which has become a hot topic on TikTok and is also referred to as “Reiwa’s graduation song.” It contains the hopes of high school students who have taken their own paths to take entrance exams and have different worries, but who believe that they will be able to meet again with smiles on their faces after completing their entrance exams. ■ CM story (120 seconds) The story begins when the main character says, “When the entrance exams are over, let’s perform again with these members,” at the brass band’s “temporary retirement ceremony” for the third-year high school students who are about to take entrance exams. After the temporary retirement ceremony, the three best friends talked about taking entrance exams. The main character, Kiyoshima, who chose to take the general entrance exam, said, “Wow, that’s amazing!” Kiyoshima-san looks a little embarrassed as he says goodbye to the two at the usual intersection. After this day, the three of them begin to move toward their respective entrance exams, despite feeling anxious and lonely. Mr. Kiyoshima, who is in charge of the trumpet, spends his days at his desk solving past exam questions from his desired schools in preparation for the general entrance exam. Meanwhile, Mr. Hamao, who plays the flute, spends his days busy preparing for essays with the aim of getting recommended by a designated school. Mr. Nakata, who is in charge of marimba, chose the comprehensive selection and is busy preparing for interviews with his career guidance teacher. As time passes as each of them continues to make efforts, Mr. Hamao and Mr. Nakata are the first to pass the exam and return to the music room together to resume their club activities. Meanwhile, Mr. Kiyoshima’s grades are not improving, and he feels anxious when he sees the two students who passed the exam practicing in the music room. With that feeling in mind, she headed to the karaoke box. Blow the trumpet powerfully and let out your growing emotions. Afterwards, Mr. Kiyoshima heads to his desk with a renewed spirit, and is supported by the sounds played by Mr. Hamao, Mr. Nakata, and other members of the brass band. On the morning of the exam, Kiyoshima suddenly smiles when she receives a message from two of her best friends saying, “If you’re nervous, try abdominal breathing.” As I was waiting for the signal to start the exam, surrounded by many test takers, I thought of myself playing a solo trumpet part. With the memories of my
irreplaceable friends and the hard work I put into my heart, I am finally ready to take the entrance exam. ■ Shooting episode Since there were many performance scenes this time, Mr. Kiyoshima, Mr. Hamao, and Mr. Nakata received special training on their respective instruments before filming. In order to get a feel for the unique atmosphere of a brass band, the three of us spent a lot of time together even before filming, such as observing an actual brass band practice and getting together to practice our respective instruments. . By the time the day of the shoot arrived, we felt like we were real friends. In particular, during the filming of the chatting scene, it was impressive to see them having fun and laughing together even though the scene was cut. During the four-day shoot, he also deepened his friendships with the students from Hamamatsu Shugakusha High School’s brass band club who cooperated with the filming, and during the crank-up, he hugs and sheds tears with the students who also supported him. too. In the performance scene, everyone showed off the results of their practice, and Mr. Kiyoshima, who played the trumpet for the first time since elementary school, went into the performance with many performance parts perfected, including the nervous solo scene in the large hall. I did. Mr. Hamao took special training on the flute, which was difficult to play during the audition. When Mr. Hamao played the flute between shots, he was so good that the filming staff mistook him for a student in the brass band. Mr. Nakata practices intensely, including attending marimba classes himself. In the photo shoot, he showed a relaxed smile while performing at a fast tempo, and the students in the brass band also applauded. ■ Interview with Chikaede Kiyoshima, Noa Nakata, and Saki Hamao Q: How did you feel when it was decided that you would be appearing in this role? Kiyoshima-san: When I heard that I passed the exam, I burst into tears. Calorie Mate was a product that actually supported me in various situations such as club activities, so I was very happy to be able to appear in a commercial with such a long history. When I was in middle school, my mom would always bring me a Calorie Mate when I had club competitions, and she would tell me, “Do your best!” This product was like my goddess of victory! Q: I heard that you practiced each instrument before filming. Was the practice difficult? How did you practice? Mr. Nakata: It was my first time playing marimba, so I was really nervous about whether I would be able to do it in time for the shooting. I feel like I was able to finally do it after practicing with everyone and working hard. My goal was to play as if I was singing, so I listened to the original song and visualized it, and I think it’s thanks to everyone that I was able to do it this far. Mr. Hamao: It was my first time playing an instrument, so I couldn’t even read sheet music. I had to finish it from that point, but my flute teacher did his best to teach me from scratch in an easy-to-understand manner. Whenever I had free time, I practiced by practicing and making sounds in the park. (My flute teacher) told me that I could only hold a third of my breath, so I had to train my lung capacity first! We also practiced long tones (holding out the same note for a long time in one breath). Q: A brass band arrangement of the popular graduation song “Bokura Mata” is used. Did you know this song? Kiyoshima-san: I’m from Okinawa Prefecture, and when I moved to Tokyo after graduating from junior high school, a friend of mine made a memory video using this song. I’ve been listening to (“Bokura Mata”) ever since. Every time I watch (the memory video), I cry. It’s a song that gave me a lot of courage, and every time I listen to it, I think that my friends in Okinawa are also supporting me, and it makes me want to do my best. Mr. Hamao: I heard about it on SNS. When I hear it, it reminds me of my friends from middle school and high school, so lately I’ve been listening to it when I want to meet up with friends. Since I played it during this shoot, I seem to be reminded of this shoot every time I hear it. It’s the best memory. Q: Based on your own experience, please give some encouragement to the students who are currently working hard. Kiyoshima-san: Right now, just like the role I played, I am a student taking entrance exams. I’m sure there will be moments when people who take general entrance exams, like my character, want to run away. There are things I want to learn and do, so I made the choice to go to university, and I’m working hard on it now. I want to keep in mind that there are people who are working hard together, and I want to keep doing the same. Mr. Nakata: I took the entrance exams for high school and university. Since it was a general entrance exam, there were many students who were selected based on recommendations starting in the fall, and when I looked at those students, I felt anxious and envious, and felt like I was the only one who wasn’t making progress. There were a lot of them. As a result, I sometimes couldn’t get enough of the study at hand. Now that I think about it, I realize that there were so many things I could have done while I was thinking about things in such agony, and I have some regrets about it. I want them to value the time they spend with them and what they want to devote themselves to. I will also do my best by eating Calorie Mate, so let’s all do our best together! Mr. Hamao: I have taken the recommendation entrance exam and the AO entrance exam. I think that no matter what the test content is, it can make you feel anxious and make you wonder if it’s really okay as it is, but I think this commercial will be able to give strength to all those test takers, so I encourage them to take the test. I hope I can support everyone. Even though the test period was difficult, when I think about it now, I can remember it as a very fond memory, so I hope that everyone will enjoy it and do their best. We are rooting for you! ■ SG’s comment One day in March 2021, just as I was falling asleep around 2 a.m., a melody came to me and I immediately recorded it on my smartphone’s voice memo, and that’s how “Bokura Mata” started. I wrote a poem thinking a lot about how to convey the idea of “farewell” in a positive way, and while imagining things like “I hope it would be used at a graduation ceremony,” the song I composed turned out to be the “Reiwa Graduation Song.” I am filled with hope that this song will be loved by everyone, and that it will be selected as Calorie Mate’s “CM song to support students taking entrance exams,” and that it will be able to touch even more young people. This song was created to warmly accompany everyone’s youth, farewells, and encounters, so I’m very happy to be able to present it to everyone together with Calorie Mate through a brass band arrangement. I was able to watch the commercial as it was being completed, and I was really moved by it as a piece of work. It’s a youth that everyone has, so I’d be happy if you could watch it and remember the “special youth” in everyone’s memories. I think this is a very important time for all examinees. I think there are times when you lose yourself while fighting against all sorts of pressures. But don’t get too caught up in the results. No matter what the outcome is, you are still you, and the most important thing is what kind of future you envision and take on that day. Please stick to what you think is right. Never let go of your core. It’s okay to mess around, you don’t have to compare yourself to others. Do your best for the future. From your probably second ally. ■Video link URL Calorie Mate CM “Each tone” version 120 seconds: https://youtu.be/p7te_aADV_U Calorie Mate CM “Each tone” version 30 seconds:

illustration for Calorie Mate. After all, it’s Calorie Mate!! (I’m a fruit flavored person) However, I was a lot more nervous than I expected to draw a high school girl who is doing her best. Can my pen express the earnestness and purity of youth? and. While I was drawing, I was eating Calorie Mate and thinking to myself, “Musical
instruments and entrance exams are all fights! Fights!” Thank you for letting me draw such youthful and energetic illustrations. ■ New TVCM “Each tone” version 120 seconds cut table
