Hughes, who was appointed as president of Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) last year, came to Japan and visited the Zenkenkai Shinjuku headquarters for the first time. TCC is a chiropractic college located on the outskirts of Houston, Texas, and Zenkenkai has been holding the “US Training Seminar” at TCC every year since 2004 (*some exceptions may be made due to the coronavirus pandemic).This time, President Hughes and Zenkenkai Chairman Nobunori Iwama had a conversation, talking about the history of both countries and chiropractic education policies, and discussing future training in the United States. During the conversation, President Hughes said, “Nutrition, sleep, and exercise are the core of chiropractic, just like in Japan,” and he emphasized that “chiropractic is not just about technique.” In fact, it is said to be similar to the TCC logo. Chairman Nobunori Iwama said that he learned a lot from this short conversation, and that he would like to share his message with Zenkenkai’s teachers.

▼What is TCC (Texas Chiropractic Collage) One of the oldest chiropractic colleges in the United States, located in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. The company was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1908 and moved to its current location in 1965. R.G. Brassard D.C. and Stephen A. Foster serve as former presidents, and the school has produced many internationally recognized chiropractors. Currently in Japan, as chiropractic is considered a folk medicine, it is impossible to learn about the workings of the human body through anatomical training. We offer an “American training” program where you can learn the latest chiropractic techniques. Training in the United States has been held at TCC every year since 2004 (with some exceptions due to the coronavirus pandemic). ▼What is zenkenkai Zenkenkai (National Healthy Life Promotion Association) is an activity support organization that spreads chiropractic techniques and comprehensive teaching methods. By introducing techniques and knowledge from the authentic American chiropractic medical association and universities, and practicing comprehensive teaching methods that include cutting-edge chiropractic techniques and nutritional therapy, exercise therapy, and physical therapy, we are able to provide a temporary solution. No, we are striving to make fundamental improvements. It is currently the largest chiropractic organization in Japan and has been operating as a traditional chiropractic organization for over 47 years. About 250 branches have been established, and about 40,000 people are learning chiropractic through Zenkenkai. Approximately 12,000 teachers are currently engaged in social contribution activities across the country as chiropractors and beauty chiro-estheticians. ▼What is chiropractic? A treatment method that manually corrects distortions in the backbone and bones. It is recognized as a national qualification in countries such as the United States and EU countries, and is widely used as a “medical equivalent.” Chiropractic is not legalized in Japan, and chiropractic is classified as a “folk therapy.” However, it has been attracting attention in recent years due to increasing interest in health and awareness of prevention.
