(Headquarters: Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Representative Director and CEO: Hideki Shoda) to develop sustainable medical care developed by Working Hasegawa. We will begin a demonstration experiment to introduce DPP (Digital Product Passport) to the clothing brand “sukui”. This initiative aims to meet global sustainability standards, increase transparency and responsibility in the product life cycle across the entire supply chain, and create a new sustainable system. 1. Characteristics of the sukui brand Utilization of eco-friendly hemp material sukui uses highly sustainable industrial hemp from KINGDOM TEXTILE (SHANGHAI) LTD (hereinafter referred to as KINGDOM) as its main material. KINGDOM’s hemp absorbs 13.7 tons of CO2 per hectare during the cultivation period, effectively reducing atmospheric carbon. Furthermore, a general characteristic of hemp is that it does not require water resources or pesticides during cultivation, so it does not place a burden on the farmland environment. It also has the effect of promoting soil health and contributing to the growth of the next generation of crops. Due to these characteristics, hemp is a sustainable material that is attracting attention internationally as a super material, and sukui promotes environmentally friendly
manufacturing by utilizing this material. Designed with an emphasis on circular economy Sukui products are designed to minimize resource waste and have a long lifespan. We collaborate with weavearth on development and design, and aim to reduce the use of petroleum-based materials by not using polyester thread for sewing, and by dyeing the product after sewing to reduce material loss. Additionally, after sales, sukui has set up its own repair and cleaning system to support the maintenance of product quality. Furthermore, we plan to collect used products and provide a composting process that takes advantage of the properties of hemp. Overview of DPP system Highly transparent environmental information management The DPP system under development will utilize blockchain technology to record CO2 emissions and material traceability throughout a product’s life cycle. This provides reliable
environmental data to consumers and business partners to support sustainable product and company choices. Sukui’s supply chain collaborates not only in Japan but also with Chinese companies including KINGDOM, and with the DPP system, we aim to improve transparency and traceability across the international supply chain. Easy access via QR code Sukui products are fitted with labels with QR codes that can be scanned to provide easy access to the product’s environmental traceability information. This feature provides consumers with reliable environmental data about the product lifecycle. At the EXPO to be held in November 2024, we will hold a demonstration using this QR code and give you a chance to experience environmental information based on sample data. The demonstration experiment is currently scheduled to run until the end of February 2025, during which time the effectiveness of the system will be verified and preparations will be made for commercial deployment. After the demonstration experiment is completed, we plan to introduce QR codes to all Sukui products.

Issues in the apparel industry and the significance of DPP Comply with regulations and strengthen competitiveness Reducing environmental impact and ensuring supply chain transparency are important issues in the apparel industry. In the EU, DPP will become mandatory in priority sectors including the textile industry from 2027, with the aim of making it fully applicable to small and medium-sized enterprises by 2030. Meanwhile, in Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the “Environmental Information Disclosure Guidelines” in June 2024, recommending the disclosure of information such as greenhouse gas emissions and water usage in the manufacturing process of textile products. In response to such tightening domestic and international regulations, the DPP system plays an important role in improving sustainability and strengthening corporate competitiveness. By providing transparent environmental data, companies can meet regulations and help consumers make reliable product choices. 4. Exhibition information at EXPO DPP system demonstration A prototype of the DPP system will be exhibited at the Blockchain EXPO to be held at Makuhari Messe from November 20th (Wednesday) to November 22nd (Friday), 2024. In this demonstration, you can scan the QR code attached to sukui products and check environmental traceability information based on sample data. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with the latest systems and experience how sustainable supply chain management is achieved. 5. Local initiatives and cooperation Blockchain promotion and DPP system development with support from Iizuka City and Fukuoka Prefecture Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, has made a blockchain promotion declaration in 2021 with the aim of becoming the world’s leading blockchain city. Through collaboration between industry, academia, and government, the creation of new industries using blockchain technology is underway, and the joint development of Chaintope with Working Hasegawa is part of this effort. This project, supported by Iizuka City and Fukuoka Prefecture, aims to improve the transparency of sustainable supply chains.
