Asahi Breweries, Ltd. (Headquarters Tokyo, President Kazuo Matsuyama) will release Irish whiskey “The Sexton Single Malt” from November 12th. “The Sexton Single Malt” is a single malt Irish whiskey made from 100% Irish malt. Distilled three times in pot stills and aged for four years in Oloroso sherry casks. By using Oloroso sherry barrels, which are known for their deep color and complex flavor, we are able to create a rich flavor despite the short aging period of four years. You can enjoy the scent of dark chocolate and honey, and the taste of figs and raisins. The bottle features a mysterious design with a skeleton sexton wearing a top hat placed in the center. We will communicate the appeal of our products by suggesting ways to drink them, such as on the rocks and in cocktails, mainly at bars where young people gather. Irish whiskey is one of the five major whiskeys in the world, and in addition to having a long history, it is popular worldwide for its light and approachable taste. In the whiskey market, which has been growing in recent years, the Irish whiskey market in 2023 will be approximately 15.6 million boxes*1, approximately twice the size of 2014.
