Shizuoka prefecture Press release: November 13, 2024 [Very popular] Civil Engineering Day event held @Roadside Station “Shimoda Kaikoku Minato” The annual popular Civil Engineering Day event, sponsored by the Shizuoka Prefecture Shimoda Civil Engineering Office, will be held at the roadside station “Kaikoku Shimoda Minato” on Saturday, November 16th. The construction industry is responsible for the development and maintenance of infrastructure that supports people’s lives, and is essential for recovery and reconstruction in the event of a disaster, but it faces issues such as an aging population and a shortage of workers. Civil Engineering Day events are held in cooperation with related organizations with the aim of securing future workers and stimulating interest in civil engineering. At the event, we will offer experiences that you cannot normally experience, such as operating heavy construction equipment, experiencing surveying and VR, and riding in a police car. Fujippi, the prefecture’s official mascot, and Damzo, the Aono Daishi Dam mascot, will also be at the venue to liven up the event.
