It is also called a tournament. This year, the 15th edition, the venue will be Meiji University’s Surugadai Campus, with the grand final held at the university’s Liberty Hall. On the day of the event, we will broadcast the event on YouTube Live. *1: Abbreviation for Master of Business Administration (= Master of Business Administration) About the 2024 Tournament This year, the 15th year, 163 teams and 748 participants from 25 graduate schools and business schools nationwide participated. The 20 teams that made it through the preliminary document screening will participate in the finals to be held on November 17th (Sunday) and present the management strategies they have formulated. Many of the participants are working graduate students who are studying while working. Nowadays, “relearning” and “reskilling” are attracting attention, and these are “relearning adults” who are making efforts to develop their own abilities. The top five teams that win the semi-finals held on the morning of the tournament will advance to the grand finals on the afternoon of the same day. All of the finals will be streamed live on the tournament’s official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@jbcc7803). Judges with business expertise from world-class consulting firms will gather at the venue to face off against the business strategies that the contestants have carefully crafted. The passionate presentations and tense exchanges just like an actual management meeting are a must-see! The winning team will receive a prize of 300,000 yen and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award. This year, more than 60 students and alumni are involved in the organization of the tournament. This year’s case issues Every year, the JBCC Executive Committee creates original “cases” themed around issues facing Japan’s economy and businesses. This year’s case theme is “value co-creation through dialogue between companies and capital markets.” The contestants were asked to formulate the next medium-term management plan for a conglomerate (a large company that operates multiple businesses) that had received a proposal from an activist regarding the sale of its original publishing and printing business and its capital policy. The case production was carried out by the JBCC Executive Committee’s 2024 Case Production Team with the cooperation of Management Co-Creation Foundation Co., Ltd.
