SPACE (space, universe, unknown place) Please enjoy OASIS in such a special space. ■Solo exhibition About [SPACE OASIS] A solo exhibition by Shonan-born artist AMI OTSUKA will be held at “8LOUNGE” on the 1st floor of 8HOTEL SHONAN FUJISAWA. This event follows his first solo exhibition of oil paintings, “TO THE SURFACE,” held at 8HOTEL CHIGASAKI in October, which was well received. In this solo exhibition, works drawn by AMI OTSUKA will decorate the interior of 8LOUNGE, based on the concept of an imaginary day “if there were 8 days in a week.” During the solo exhibition, original AMI OTSUKA goods will be sold in front of the front desk. The lineup includes stickers, T-shirts, acrylic key chains, and more. You can enjoy the memories and world view of the solo exhibition at home or when you go out. 8LOUNGE is a sophisticated space where you can enjoy just sitting in, with careful attention to the interior and BGM. Please enjoy food and drinks while enjoying the world view of AMI OTSUKA at 8LOUNGE. While looking at the works, why not imagine an imaginary day and take a short trip to space or an unknown place? Additionally, a special event will be held from 5pm on Saturday, December 7th. We will all be celebrating the opening of the solo exhibition in a different atmosphere than usual, including a DJ booth. ■ Message from AMI OTSUKA I am very happy to have had the opportunity to exhibit at 8HOTEL CHIGASAKI as well as 8HOTEL FUJISAWA. This time, I’m expressing the hypothetical 8th day of 8HOTEL’s concept “If there were 8 days in a week” in my world view. After entering the workforce and experiencing a life away from the sea, he realized the importance of the sea, so he quit his job and set out on a journey. Random pleasant moments, the best moments found on a trip, and the changes in nature that are often overlooked. It depicts relaxation and release, the life options that lie ahead, affirmation to the viewer that it is okay to spend time this way, and the possibilities of AMIOTSUKA’s own life. Since 2009, he has been active as a clay modeler at SUBARU. After retiring, he moved to Okinawa and began painting, inspired by the blue and wide ocean.
