Introduction Katsuhisa Hattori (1936-2020) studied at the Paris Conservatoire in the 1950s. After returning to Japan, he began his musical career in the early days of television broadcasting and became one of Japan’s leading composers and arrangers, working on numerous music programs. This book is a collection of piano sheet music with practice tips and a selection of 23 carefully selected songs from “Hattori Katsuhisa Piano Pops Selection” (3 volumes, published by our company) published between 1990 and 1992, a collection of piano arrangements by Hattori Katsuhisa, who has been described as a “bridge between classical and pop music.” The book includes instructional videos that can be viewed by scanning the QR code. Furthermore, the difficulty level of each song is indicated by a star rating (on a 3-point scale), so you can practice from the easiest song, rather than in order. Don’t worry, even if you haven’t played the piano in a while. This book will help you get started in your “second piano career.”

Message from Katsuhisa Hattori I’m really happy that there are so many people who love music. But it’s truly unfortunate that the vast majority of people are satisfied with just listening. We mustn’t neglect the other joy of music: performing. Performing may sound a bit formal, but since you’re not a professional, participating is meaningful, just like the Olympics. For example, it’s important to first think, “How wonderful it would be to be able to play your favorite songs to your heart’s content.” Even if you say so, don’t be put off by the fact that you’ve never properly learned to play. Anyone can make sound on the piano by simply hitting the keys, so motivation is key. First, try playing the piano with some familiar pop music and have fun. We recommend not just playing exactly as written, but also playing as you like, to experience the freedom of pop piano. Born as the eldest son of Ryoichi Hattori. After attending Seikei Gakuen Junior and Senior High School, he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. In 1971, he won the 13th Japan Record Award for Best Arrangement for “Hana no Marchen.” In 1984, he released the original instrumental album “Ongaku Batake.” Since then, he has released a total of 22 works as his life’s work. In 1989, he became a visiting professor at Tokyo College of Music. In 1994, he became president of the Japan Composers and Arrangers Association. In July 1999, he received the Minister of Education’s Commendation for Special Contributions to the Centennial of the Copyright Law. Product information
