WIRED Japan, a media outlet that implements the future, will hold its annual major business conference, “WIRED Futures Conference 2025 Collaborated with NTT,” over two days, September 29th (Monday) and 30th (Tuesday). This year’s theme is “AI and Quantum Computing.” AI, which is experiencing explosive evolution, and quantum computers, which are undergoing major changes toward practical application, are said to combine to bring about true breakthroughs. WIRED Japan has positioned the 2030s, when AI and quantum computers will converge, as the “Quantum Age.” With that coming soon, we will explore the future we should be looking toward at the “WIRED Futures Conference 2025 Collaborated with NTT.” DAY 1, Monday the 29th, will be titled “QUANTUM Day,” and will feature sessions exploring the latest research on quantum computing and the outlook for its practical application. The event will kick off with a keynote speech by Harvard University Professor Mikhail Lukin, one of the world’s most notable researchers. The day will feature in-depth discussions with speakers including Takuya Kitagawa of QuEra Computing, a US-based startup that develops and manufactures quantum computers alongside Lukin, and Keisuke Fujii, a leading Japanese quantum computing researcher and professor at Osaka University. On Day 2, “AI Day,” on Tuesday the 30th, we will explore the future of AI from a variety of perspectives, including its explosive application to business, future technological innovations, and remaining ethical challenges, while catching up on the latest trends in the ever-changing field of AI. The event will kick off with a keynote speech by Google Vice President and Fellow Blaise Aguera y Arcas, followed by a diverse lineup of sessions featuring Japanese AI startups, cutting-edge researchers, and even artists. The event will also feature an on-stage reenactment of WIRED’s popular video series, “Tech Support,” called “AI Support (Special Edition),” allowing for interactive interaction with audience members.
