(Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shun Ueda) will hold “Tokyo Midtown Hibiya WHAT IS ART” at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku; operator: Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.) from Wednesday, September 10th to Friday, September 12th, 2025. Overview This event, consisting of a talk and special exhibition, aims to explain the scope of the concept of “art,” its industrial structure, and the origins of its value in the art world, providing an opportunity for active engagement with art rather than merely passive appreciation. The talk event will be organized around four themes: “Definition of Art,” “The Value of Art,” “Purchasing Art,” and “Art and Public Interest/Public Work.” Experts from each field will discuss and explain the value of art and its background. Additionally, an exhibition will be held to allow visitors to experience these themes visually. The exhibition will be themed around “Interpreting Art,” allowing visitors to appreciate the works not only as an expression of their personal sensibilities, but also by connecting them to social phenomena, social science, and intellectual history.
