Shochiku Entertainment Co., Ltd. Press release: August 29, 2025 To Members of the Press Shofutei Tetsubin to hold solo performances in Osaka and Tokyo in November! Three performances: Iron Kettle Talk, Classic Rakugo, and New Non-Fiction Rakugo Shofutei Tetsubin will be holding a solo performance again this year. The performance will feature the stand-up talk “Tetsubin Talk,” the fifth installment of his “Non-Fiction Rakugo” series, which began in 2021, and the finale will be the classic rakugo “Omiki Tokkuri.” This year’s solo performance will be performed by Tetsubin alone, without an opening act.

Photo: Hiroshi Sato After the talk, Tetsubin will perform his latest “Non-Fiction Rakugo” (in which Tetsubin himself finds a subject, conducts research, and turns a specific person’s life into a rakugo story) piece, which he has been working on since his solo performance in 2021. Recently, there have been many requests to hear non-fiction rakugo, so he has been giving performances (lectures) in various locations! In this latest installment (the fifth), four siblings born and raised on the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture are separated due to various circumstances and forced to live their own lives. One day, their encounter with rakugo (traditional Japanese storytelling) dramatically changes the lives of the four siblings. After a break, he will perform the classic rakugo piece “Omiki Tokkuri.” Following last year’s performance, he will conclude his solo performance with a classic rakugo piece.

Second film: “Papa Bento: 1095 Days Connecting Father and Daughter” This is the story of a father with no cooking experience who spends three years of high school trying and failing to make bento lunches for his daughter. It’s a heartwarming story that will have both father and daughter laughing, and ultimately bring you to tears. Third Work: “The Magnificent Probation Officer” This is the story of a former probation officer who has worked hard to rehabilitate over 120 young people, and the people she has met and worked hard to
rehabilitate. It’s a story that will help you understand and reflect on the importance of the work of probation officers and what they tried to convey as probation officers. Fourth Work: “Abandoned Railway Communication” A man works at the tourism bureau of Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture. He is in charge of an “Abandoned Railway Walk” event to revitalize the local area. During the preparations, he is reminded of his grandfather. In fact, his grandfather was a former Japanese National Railways engineer and had even driven along the section of the abandoned railway line that he walked on. In 2021, he established the genre of “non-fiction rakugo,” which tells the story of one person’s life, and has performed it at various venues and human rights lectures. In 2019, he was selected as one of Nara Prefecture’s torchbearers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, running in his hometown of Kashiba City.
