Beautiful cities, resembling theme parks, are popping up all over Tokyo. Real things are disappearing from our everyday lives, and people are immersed in a “world of dreams, a world of vanity.” Tokyo, the city of dreams. People roam the city like migratory fish. The increase in inbound tourism further amplified this trend, but COVID-19 has shattered this world of pretense like a fleeting dream. Time has passed, and now Tokyo is bustling again, even more so than it was before COVID-19. A situation that could be described as “excessive desire” and “leisure consumption” continues.
