“WonderMeta x PABLOS Museum,” was launched in March 2025 by the team formed with the motto of “using new technology to provide exciting support to children battling illness.” The project aims to provide exciting opportunities for interaction through the presentation and exhibition of artwork created by children with specific chronic childhood illnesses, including childhood cancer. The theme of this exhibition is “one-of-a-kind imaginary creatures.” Starting in April, we’re accepting submissions in any format, from paintings to crafts and digital art. For those currently hospitalized, volunteers from the Mirai ISSEY “Good Brother Project,” a nonprofit organization based in Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture, who support hospitalized children through play and learning, will support their artwork creation. We are pleased to announce the “WonderMeta x PABLOS Museum,” a limited-time, participatory metaverse art exhibition. This Metaverse Art Exhibition also displays the thoughts and background behind each piece. It is designed to foster “heart-to-heart communication” between visitors and the children who created the artworks, with a full range of features allowing visitors to vote, react, and leave comments on the artworks they are viewing. There are also attractions where visitors can experience the art as avatars, as well as a zoo and aquarium area, creating a free-spirited, participatory art exhibition that is unique to the fantasy space of the internet. Team WonderMeta will continue to develop projects that allow children who require long-term treatment, hospitalization, or outpatient care to have fun creating and feel connected to society and others, whether in their hospital room, at home, or anywhere else, to help alleviate the social isolation, loss of educational opportunities, and psychological burden that they face. *The “PABLOS Museum” is an art museum conceived by elementary school students in Osaka City, where artwork can be exhibited regardless of physical location. Pablos Inc., an educational technology company, developed the “PABLOS” educational digital transformation platform, digital library, and metaverse art museum, and operates it as a social VR app in the metaverse. What are specific chronic childhood diseases? This refers to illnesses in children under the age of 20 that have been recognized by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as meeting the following four criteria: [1. Chronic; 2. Long-term life-threatening; 3. Symptoms and treatments long-term decrease quality of life; 4. Long-term high medical costs]. This includes approximately 850 illnesses in 16 disease groups, including childhood cancer, kidney disease, and blood disorders. These are not temporary illnesses, and many require long-term treatment, hospitalization, or outpatient treatment. Children dealing with illnesses face challenges beyond the symptoms and treatment themselves, including feelings of isolation, reduced learning opportunities, and loss of social connections.
