ABEMA, the new television of the future, has released a new key visual for the September Grand Sumo Tournament, which will be held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo from Sunday, September 14, 2025. In this image, Yasuseishiki, who will be competing in the September tournament as the top maegashira, and Kotoshoho, who achieved his long-awaited first victory in the July tournament, appear with their arms crossed and looking imposing. The dignified expressions and stances of both wrestlers hint at the heated battles to come in the Autumn tournament. The design is by embroidery artist KENDAI, as it was for the July tournament. The background features a full moon and moon rabbit, a reference to the harvest moon, as well as osmanthus flowers, heralding the arrival of autumn. Osmanthus flowers are beloved as a symbol of autumn, releasing their sweet fragrance from late September. By combining this with the strength of the sumo wrestlers, the design evokes the unique autumnal atmosphere and the intensity of sumo wrestling. After the visual was released, ABEMA Grand Sumo Official X received comments such as “The embroidered visuals are so cute,” “This is so cool, this is so cool, my favorite wrestler,” and “This is so fresh and great,” and the world view created by the sumo wrestlers and art has been well received by many fans. ABEMA will broadcast every bout of the September tournament live for free, from the Jonokuchi division to the final bout. Along with easy-to-understand commentary from our sumo commentators, we’ll bring you the tension and excitement unique to the Autumn Tournament.
