(Location: Sado City, Niigata Prefecture; Representative Director: Hideo Owatari; hereinafter “Sado Kisen”) has begun sales of the “Sado’s Spectacular Rice Terraces and Artistic Day” day tour, departing and returning from Niigata Port. This tour is a collaboration with the “Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival 2025” to be held on Sado Island, and you can also view the art festival artworks. Enjoy a special time viewing the autumn-colored rice terraces and the art festival artworks, and tasting freshly cooked rice grown in the rice terraces. Rice fields x art View the art exhibits “Zeami’s Higan Boat” and “Eigupta” at the Iwakubi Shoryu Rice Terraces, which are spread out among the mountains at an altitude of over 350m. Art festival staff will guide you along the way, and you can also listen to explanations about the works. Come experience the collaboration of autumn-colored nature and art. Make salted rice balls with rice grown in terraced fields On the day, you’ll have the opportunity to make salted rice balls using freshly cooked Iwakubi Shoryu Rice Terraces rice. Because it’s simple, you’ll be able to fully enjoy the rice’s true flavor. The Iwakubi Shoryu Rice Terraces rice variety is “Koshihikari BL,” a Niigata Prefecture-designated variety introduced to promote environmentally friendly and safe rice cultivation. Rice grown in ample morning sun is said to have a strong sweetness. Guided by a local farmer A farmer from Iwakubi village will give you a humorous tour.
