Tachibana-cho, Naka-ku, Nagoya) will be holding the 17th Nagoya Antique Market (NAM) at the Higashi Betsuin and Nishi Betsuin temples in Tachibana-cho, Naka-ku, Nagoya, over two days, Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th, 2025. Started in 2017, this event brings to the present day the culture of Tachibana-cho, a town with a history of exclusive antique sales in the Owari domain during the Edo period. It has grown into one of the largest markets in the Tokai region, bringing together people who love antiques, vintage items, secondhand clothing, Showa-era retro goods, and antique tools. Over the course of 16 events, the event has introduced new initiatives such as charging a fee, but the last time it attracted approximately 15,000 visitors and expanded to an annual management team of 200 people. It is steadily making progress as a large-scale event that involves the local community. The main venues are the Higashi Betsuin and Nishi Betsuin temples, but the market also extends to surrounding local facilities like Hioki Shrine, making it a city-wide market. Nishi Betsuin in particular has expanded from the American Antiques Area, which attracted much attention last time, to the “Kansai-Asia Area,” which welcomes popular shops from the Kansai region and seven stores from around Asia. This will be a place where a more diverse and global antique culture comes together.

■Highlights of the 17th event! 1. “Kansai & Asia” takes over WEST AREA! WEST AREA was a huge success last time with its “American Antiques” event. This year’s event will be even more diverse, with not only a large number of unique shops from Kansai gathering together, but seven vintage shops from Asian countries, including Korea, coming to Nagoya. Shops active around the world will line up, offering a diverse lineup of furniture, miscellaneous goods, second-hand clothing, and more. It will be a special space where you can experience Kansai and Asian culture without leaving Nagoya. It will be a market where more diverse and global cultures intersect than ever before!

The story of the popular character “NAM-O-kun” continues. In the last episode, he started traveling around the world, and was supposed to have left for America, but instead he headed straight to Kansai Airport to see the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and the poster shows him enjoying sightseeing in Kansai. The design was created by popular artist TMpaint, and the visuals are an homage to the covers of fashion magazines published mainly in the Kansai region.
