“Machikado Mazoku” is a slapstick comedy about a high school girl, Yuko Yoshida (Shamiko), who suddenly awakens to the power of darkness one morning. In order to lift a curse placed on her family, she meets a magical girl who is her destined partner, and the chaotic struggles she faces. The first season aired in July 2019, and the sequel, “Machikado Mazoku” “2-Chome” aired in April 2022. It was extremely popular on Niconico, and the phrase “It’s Shamiko’s fault,” coined by fans, became a popular internet meme and was even selected for the 2019 Niconico Internet Buzzword Award.
