Since 2009, he has been active as “Treebeard.” “Treebeard” is the name of a tree spirit that appears in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings.” He chose the name because he didn’t want to devour nature when gathering materials, and wanted to be careful not to incur Treebeard’s wrath.
