Alfrex Japan (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Taku Hoshina) will be holding the “MATSUMARU MASAE EXHIBITION” at Alfrex Nagoya from Thursday, September 11th to Tuesday, September 30th. The “LIFE with ART project” proposes a comfortable relationship between art and interior design. The exhibition, held at Alfrex Osaka in February 2024, was well-received, and this time, new works will be exhibited and sold in Nagoya. The process is quite simple: dripping acrylic paint onto the canvas and spreading it with a squeegee. She handles art materials as if playing, even enjoying the unexpected movements of the paint. Repeating affirmation and negation, intentionality and randomness, I paint as if I’m pulling together images that appear and disappear. It’s like cutting out a moment in time and presenting it visually. A fleeting scene I came across somewhere in the past, It’s as if I’m connecting the faint bundles of memories that remain to the present. I draw with these things in mind. Mae Matsumaru
