Admission fee (tax included): Adults 600 yen, junior high/high school/university students 250 yen, elementary school students 200 yen. *Groups of 20 or more receive a 20% discount. Those aged 65 or older who live in Okayama Prefecture receive a 10% discount with proof of purchase. Discounts cannot be combined. *Free admission for Yumebi members. Number of works: Approximately 50. About the exhibited works “Netakananka” (mid-Taisho period) 41.3 x 135.2 cm *First time on display at the Yumeji Birthplace Memorial Museum This work is a low-profile folding screen called a “pillow folding screen,” which was placed next to a pillow to protect from the wind and cold. The girl depicted is sleeping blissfully on a soft futon and pillow, and you can almost hear her breathing. The caption reads, “I’m sleeping, I’ve taken a pillow, my pillow is floating, sleeping, floating.” However, a similar piece appears in Yumeji’s 1922 book, Cat’s Cradle and Cradle, a collection of traditional folk songs from around Japan, under the title “Pillow.”

To celebrate the Double Ninth Festival, which sees chrysanthemums used to pray for longevity, we are holding a special exhibition of Yumeji’s autumn paintings. Enjoy the chrysanthemums lovingly cultivated by local residents in the garden.
