–Please tell us about the work. Saito: Ever since I appeared in the previous work, “My Turn is Thoroughbred Omega,” I’ve thought the illustrations in the original manga were incredibly beautiful. I was immediately drawn into the work. I feel incredibly grateful and happy to have had the opportunity to meet Natsume. The style of the work has changed a little from the previous one, and I felt like the story was even more frustrating. I approached the recording session while fully savoring that feeling of not being able to be completely honest. Yamashita: Since this is a sequel, it’s been a while since I last played Kotaro, and there were some parts that I only understood once he became the main character. I felt very close to the character and could empathize with many aspects of him, so I wasn’t anxious, in a good way, and headed into the recording with a comfortable sense of tension. Moreover, since the cast members were people I regularly work with, I felt at ease and trusted them. I was able to act comfortably, with the mindset of “Let’s have fun.” It was a truly fulfilling recording session! Kobayashi: In the previous work, Natsume and Kotaro didn’t really feature as main characters, but this one really focused on them. While the four of us are in the same entertainment industry, it definitely has a different feel from our story in the previous one. There’s a unique sense of frustration that doesn’t go as planned in this one. This lack of success is also in a different light than ours. Natsume’s conflicts and past, in particular, are depicted in a more vivid way in parts not depicted in the previous one. He faces difficulties in being a different pair than us. Natsume’s background, and the encouragement and resolve he felt to live strongly in the present, were very heartbreaking. I thought, “I hope they find happiness soon.” Amidst all that sadness, I liked how Kotaro, played by Yamashita, keeps her cheerful and positive, and is sometimes there to support her. That was also different from the relationship between Reo and Eito. It’s a story that really makes you think, “I hope they find happiness.” Each character has their own difficulties, but it really touched me how they overcome them and find happiness, and I thought they were characters you’d want to root for forever. Terashima: In the previous work, Natsume was the first to share Eito’s secrets, and someone who listened to his troubles. Eito and Reio were able to find a happy ending before him, but I think Natsume must have felt left behind. Reading it from Eito’s perspective, that really hit me hard. Like, “We’re the only ones who got happy before them” (laughs). Because they’re close as friends, I think that when they’re together, it might seem like they’re showing off their happy side to Natsume. I think that’s something Eito was worried about as well. He was also worried about not noticing that Natsume was troubled. But this work is about Natsume opening up to Kotaro, a very generous man, so I was really relieved to see the two of them become partners in the truest sense. I thought it was a good ending! –Please tell us your impressions of the recording. Saito: We recorded over two days. On the first day, we were able to record with the four main cast members, so I was glad we were able to create the atmosphere of the show there. On the second day, it was just Makoto-chan and I, and while we maintained the atmosphere we created on the first day, we were also able to spend some intense time exchanging messages because it was just the two of us, which made for a very stimulating and enjoyable recording experience. Yamashita: It’s a heartwarming and warm world, and while there are painful parts, it’s not too dark. It’s a gentle world because there is salvation, so recording was a lot of fun. It wasn’t just the two of us interacting, but also the interactions between Natsume and Reio, and Natsume and Eito. It was fun to watch the parts other than Kotaro, and I learned a lot. It was a fulfilling recording! Kobayashi: For the previous film, we recorded with just three people, including Yamashita-san, but this time, Souma-san joined us and we were able to record as a group of four. We were able to get into a good rapport with each other and act more easily. It was also really great to hear Souma-san’s performance as Natsume. It was a wonderful recording session. It’d been a while since Junta and I last recorded, but we were able to smoothly get into our roles without worrying about different characters or wondering, “How did it go?” Our role was to give each other advice and concern in between. My role was the opposite of the previous work, but being on the supporting side was fun, which was different from the previous work. I think I was able to play Reio with a fresh feeling during the recording. Terashima: This time, it felt like our roles were swapped, so I thought, “Oh, so this is how Eito is caring.” I guess that’s what happens when it comes to his friends (laughs). He teases them, but also tries to get them together. I think this is a side of him that doesn’t come out when we’re the main characters, so it was fun to act him out. –So, what are the highlights of this album? Saito: The serious mood continues throughout the entire film, so I hope that viewers will enjoy it by adding their own emotions to it. I mentioned earlier that they’re a frustrating pair, but the scene where they open up about their true feelings to each other felt like a really raw display of human emotion, so I’d love it if you could listen to that scene too. Yamashita: It was a story that made you feel all kinds of love. From Kotaro’s perspective, it was especially the relationship and distance between Natsume and his mother. I watched with the feeling of “I hope everything works out.” That love between parent and child, and the relationship and love between different birthdates. For example, the distance and friendship between omegas, and the concern they feel. There’s also the love of the people around Natsume who support him, which appears in the second half of the story. There are all kinds of love, and I thought that was definitely a highlight and something to watch and listen to. It’s like a small word in everyday life can greatly change the future. Someone’s words have an impact on that person’s life. I really like that it’s not just a story about Natsume and Kotaro, but has that ensemble drama feel. Of course, I also enjoyed the exchanges between Natsume and Kotaro. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to record with all the cast members together, so I haven’t heard the scenes with Natsume’s mother and Sato-san yet, but I’m sure the finished product will be wonderful. Kobayashi: First and foremost, Souma himself cried a lot, and created all of Natsume’s scenes with the crystallization of his tears. Even though it’s a drama CD, which is presented solely through audio, Souma’s acting really shines through. You can almost feel Natsume’s pain and conflict even without reading the manga. His acting brought the scenes to mind, which was very impressive. Yamashita’s acting, in keeping with his character, also supported Natsume from the sidelines. I think it’s difficult to match the high-energy feeling that Souma brings to Natsume with the brightness of Kotaro. One wrong move and it could ruin the mood. Yamashita’s acting complements that very well. This recording made me realize once again how lucky I am that Souma and Yamashita were chosen to play Natsume and Kotaro. The dialogue between the two of them is very impressive and worth listening to. In terms of our scenes, we have more screen time in the extra episode, but Reo was particularly amazing. He has grown a lot since the previous work, and there were many scenes where he looked more mature. I would definitely recommend listening to that as well. I would be happy if everyone could sense that Reo has grown since the previous work. Terashima: As expected, there are a series of serious scenes from the beginning, depicting how tough Natsume has been in the entertainment industry. In between, there are scenes like drinking parties with the four of them, which I hope serve as an oasis. I hope that these provide a bit of comedy, and then enjoy the serious and delicate scenes that follow with the two main characters. It’s a well-balanced drama with a great balance, making it a worthwhile listen. In the bonus episode, Eito and the others have already become mates, so I think you can listen with peace of mind. However, Eito and Reo also have problems they must overcome, and the song depicts them taking a step toward growth, so I hope you’ll listen to that as well. –Finally, please give a message to all the fans who are waiting for this CD! Saito: I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to encounter such a wonderful work and characters. We put all our effort into recording so that we could convey the charm of the original work through audio as well. We hope you enjoy it over and over again along with the original work. We hope to be able to experience their story again, so please support us! Yamashita: The original work is truly amazing. As Souma said, the illustrations are absolutely beautiful. It may be rude of me, an amateur, to say this, but the manga is so well-crafted, and the panel layout and everything is so enjoyable and captivating to read. There’s a lot of pressure in expressing the charm of this manga through sound. How do we express the emotions of the manga? I paid particular attention to that aspect when I acted. So, once you read this new work, “We Are Surely Not Your Mate,” I’m sure you’ll want to reread the previous work, “My Mate is the Thoroughbred Omega.” I would encourage anyone who has the original work to reread it and listen to the drama CD from the previous work again, as I’m sure you’ll discover something new. And then I would like you to spread the word to those around you. Your support will lead to the next story. When that time comes, I’m determined to put all my effort into weaving their story again, so I’d really appreciate your support! I’m so glad to have come across such a wonderful work! Kobayashi: Since it’s a two-disc set, it’s packed with content. The original work is so captivating, it progresses so smoothly you won’t believe it’s a two-disc set, and I think you’ll finish it in no time and reach the finale. The emotions are portrayed so delicately that there are parts that you won’t be able to fully understand if you listen to it just once, and there will be parts that will surprise you on a second listen. This is a work in particular that I’d like you to listen to multiple times. I hope you’ll look forward to the release and pay attention to the process of Natsume and Kotaro’s love growing. Terashima: This is my first new work in about three years, so I’m really happy to be able to participate in it again. I think you’ll be able to get even more immersed if you listen to it alongside my previous work, “My Turn is a Thoroughbred Omega.” Please give that a listen and support me, as you’ll be curious to find out what happens next. The combination of the entertainment world and the Omegaverse is deep and portrayed in a realistic way. Even though I work in the public eye as a celebrity, I wonder if I would hide my Omega attribute. The story depicts human psychology in a fairly harsh way, so I’d like to see what happens next and what Eito and the others will have to face. I hope you’ll support the series.
