This pop-up shop, “Witch Watch: Japanese and Traditional General Goods Store – WITCH WATCH JAPAN TRADITION -,” is a unique attempt to combine the global popularity of the TV anime “Witch Watch” with traditional Japanese crafts. It will be open to a wide range of customers, including tourists visiting Japan, as a place where they can simultaneously experience the world of the anime and the charm of Japanese “wa” culture. In addition, in recent years, Japan’s content industry, including anime, has grown beyond mere niche culture into a major global soft power. From 2023 onward, the global anime market is expected to explode, reaching a record-breaking size of approximately ¥3.4 trillion/$23 billion in 2023, with more than half of that revenue coming from overseas. As such, Japanese anime is no longer limited to domestic demand; the industry is driven by support and revenue from overseas markets. This project responds to this growing global interest in “wa” (harmony). We aim to use entertainment as a starting point to promote traditional Japanese culture to the world and contribute to the preservation and inheritance of cultural assets. Together with our collaborating partner, Career Consulting Co., Ltd. (Koreiiwa), we hope to bring the appeal of “Witch Watch” and “wa” (harmony) to as many people as possible. *The TV anime “Witch Watch” began airing in April 2025 and is currently in its second season. It is a notable work that has received high praise on major overseas streaming sites. ~Synopsis~ Otogi Morihito, a high school student with the powers of a demon, lives with his childhood friend Nico, a witch in training, as her familiar!
