contemporary music master Philip Glass, Maki Namekawa, a
world-renowned pianist, will perform “Mishima,” a Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. The performance will feature a new ballet by leading Japanese ballet dancer Mizuka Ueno and Asami Maki Ballet Company principal dancers Tokika Aoyama, Tomohiko Hemmi, and Yuichiro Kyoto. In addition, violinist Ikuko Kawai, who continues to perform concerts fusing Eastern and Western cultures in New York and around the world, will perform “American Four Seasons.” Accompanied by the melodies of the Kyoto Philharmonic Orchestra, nurtured in the ancient capital of Kyoto, beloved by Philip Glass and the setting for “The Temple of the Golden Pavilion,” the performance will dynamically express the “beauty” and “art” that represent Yukio Mishima’s worldview through the integration of music, visual art, and physical expression. “MISHIMA – A Feast of Orchestra and Ballet” is a resonant performance of vibrant sound and movement, drawing the attention of music and dance fans from Japan and abroad.
