It will start airing on Tuesday, October 7th.

I still can’t believe that something so wonderful has happened in my life. This work depicts a mother’s desire for revenge that transcends law and morality, and the conflict that this brings. Posing the serious question, “Is it a sin to kill the person who took my daughter’s life?”, the protagonist, Reiko, pursues the
perpetrators, employing surprising methods to exact her revenge. As a mother myself, I kept asking myself until the very end: What if I were faced with the same situation? A life lost cannot be brought back. Despair, anger, and guilt for not being able to help as a mother… Reiko’s realization that she chose revenge despite the pain and suffering that will never go away… I’m excited to be able to depict the background and characters’ detailed emotions that couldn’t be fully depicted in the manga with the unique structure and expression of a drama. I also look forward to seeing the actors’ performances breathe new life into the characters. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the production of this drama for giving me this wonderful opportunity. 【Aoi Sei Sensei】 I am truly honored that the work I wrote the original story for will be adapted into a drama. The story is about a mother who loses her precious family, undergoes cosmetic surgery to look younger, then infiltrates her mommy friends as a completely different person and exacts revenge. At its core, however, are questions like, “How do people recover when they lose someone they love?” and “What does it mean to be a mother?” The original work depicts the protagonist’s heart gradually changing as her appearance changes. With this dramatization, we believe that the power and tension that only a film can offer, along with the passionate performances of the actors, will create an even more realistic experience than the original! We hope that many people will be able to witness the life of mother Reiko. We can’t wait for it to air! ◆Comment from the Editor in Charge As the editor in charge, I am extremely honored to hear about this drama adaptation, and I am filled with gratitude to everyone involved. As we worked out the details of this project with Aoi-sensei, we ultimately decided on the theme of a “demon of revenge.” Reiko was born from our desire to create a demon (the protagonist) that readers could empathize with, rather than a “demon of revenge” who simply runs wild with madness. Aoi-sensei, Ashida-sensei, and my editor all worked together to maintain an objective perspective as we crafted the story, ensuring that every word and action of Reiko, who has faced the greatest tragedy of her life as a mother, was relatable to readers. When I congratulated Ashida-sensei on the drama adaptation, she seemed to think I was referring to “Stolen Husband and Womb,” a work currently in progress and also based on an original work by Aoi-sensei, which many others had said would be a good fit for a drama adaptation. At first, she didn’t seem to understand when I told her, “It’s the previous work,” but as the details were finalized, her excitement grew, and I’m enjoying it too. I hope many people will enjoy watching it.
