(C)︎ Ho CHANG Growing up in Japan and Korea. He began playing guitar in Yokohama at the age of three and has studied under Kiyoshi Shomura, Shinichi Fukuda, and A. Pieri. After graduating from the Tokyo College of Music, she graduated with honors from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2014. She also graduated with honors from the Alicante Classical Guitar Master Course in 2016. In 2005, she participated in an opera performance conducted by Seiji Ozawa. She won first place and the Audience Prize at the Heinzberg International Guitar Competition in 2007, second place (no first place winner) at the Koblenz International Guitar Competition in 2008, first place at Belgium’s “Guitar Spring 2008” (the first Asian and female winner in the competition’s history), first place at the Liechtenstein International Guitar Competition, first place and the Audience Prize at the Alhambra International Guitar Competition in 2012, and first place at the Jan Edmund Jurkowski Memorial Guitar Competition 2014 in Poland. He has also won many other awards at major international guitar competitions. He has performed with many orchestras, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. His recordings include “Sueño: Dream,” “Sonata Noir” (Fontec), “Journey to Spain,” “The Last Tremolo,” “Saudade: Brazilian Guitar Works,” “FAVORITE SELECTION,” and “Harmonia” (Nippon Columbia). All of these have been exceptional hits, earning him numerous special selections from Record Geijutsu magazines. In 2020, he produced his first self-produced album, “Le Depart,” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his debut, and won the Classical Music Award at the 14th CD Shop Awards 2022. He has attracted worldwide attention, having been invited to guitar festivals in Europe, the United States, Korea, Taiwan, and other countries.
