August 8th comes from the fact that a row of “8s” forms the same shape as “∞,” which represents the continuous circulation of goods from person to person. To use Reuse Day as an opportunity to deepen consumers’ awareness of reuse and a circular economy and expand the reuse population, we held a joint experience event with six reuse companies. This event is aimed at elementary school students and their parents. By experiencing the reuse concepts they have learned in class through workshops at each company’s booth, the event aims to encourage them to incorporate the concepts into their daily lives and take action to create a recycling-oriented society that applies to them. <Scenes from the “August 8th Reuse Day – Connecting Smiles to Power the Future” Event> On the first day, Friday, August 8th, a talk event was held featuring representatives from the Ministry of the Environment and four reuse companies. The elementary school students and their parents listened intently as each company representative shared their most important reuse items and reuse actions they can start putting into practice today. Representatives from four reuse companies and the Ministry of the Environment took the stage to share the value of reuse. At the venue, each company set up a reuse experience booth, utilizing its unique features, where children had fun while deepening their learning about reuse. Children were seen engrossed in various experiences, such as considering the value and price of items and transforming them into new shapes to make key chains, providing an opportunity to learn about reuse firsthand.
