The peak of university rugby, which has been in the works for about three months, is finally about to begin! The long-awaited fall college rugby season is finally here. The Kanto University Rugby League is a league packed with traditional schools. Attention is focused on Waseda University, which won last season with a perfect record, Teikyo University, which is currently on a four-year winning streak at the National University Championship, and Meiji University, which is hoping to revive its legacy. While the Kanto University League is a competitive arena, last season Daito Bunka University won, ending Tokai University’s six-game winning streak. This season, a fierce battle for the top spots is expected, centered around Daito Bunka University, Toyo University, and Tokai University. In the Kansai University League, attention will be focused on whether other universities can compete with the two strongest teams, Tenri University, last season’s champion, and Kyoto Sangyo University, a semi-finalist in the university championship. Attention is focused on whether other universities can compete with last season’s champions, Tenri University, and Kyoto Sangyo University, a semi-finalist in the university championship. One of the attractions of university rugby is the brilliance of promising star players, an aspect not to be overlooked. Players selected for the Japan National Team/JAPAN XV include Yoshitaka Yazaki (Waseda University), Jingo Takenoshita (Meiji University), and U23 Japan National Team members Chuka Ishibashi (Kyoto Sangyo University), Eito Shirai (Meiji University), and Kenso Tanaka (Waseda University). Don’t miss the performances of these players who are expected to excel in the Japan National Team and Japan Rugby League One in the future. To share the appeal of university rugby and the stellar performances of its players with as many rugby fans as possible, J SPORTS will post videos on various social media platforms during each league match that convey the appeal of university rugby, including highlights of key matches. Additionally, as a new social media initiative, the opening match of the Kanto University Rugby Tournament, “Meiji University vs. University of Tsukuba,” will be streamed live for free (first half only) on the official J SPORTS Rugby YouTube channel. We plan to increase the number of college rugby-related videos this season, so please check out our social media.
