Japan’s young breaking veterans gather at Nagano Station’s Zenkoji Exit! “Shinshu Breakin’ Fest” First Held on Sunday, September 21st
RAQUAN Press release: September 12, 2025 To Members of the Press Japan’s young breaking veterans gather at the Zenkoji Exit of Nagano Station! “Shinshu Breakin’ Fest” to be held for the first time on Sunday, September 21st “Make Nagano Prefecture a Mecca for Breaking” The Shinshu BREAKIN’Fes. Tournament Executive Committee (with planning and management cooperation from Rakuan Co., Ltd.) will hold the first “Shinshu Breakin’ Fest” on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the square in front of the Zenkoji Exit of JR Nagano Station (Kurita, Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture) with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of breaking, a popular sport among young people, and developing it into a place where young people in Nagano can thrive and have fun. A special stage will be set up at the venue, the Zenkoji Exit of Nagano Station. Admission is free, and there will also be a free breaking experience session, creating a space where anyone can feel free to come and enjoy themselves. The overall concept of this event is “Making Nagano a Mecca for Breaking” and “Creating athletes from Nagano who can compete on the world stage.” By inviting dancers who compete on the world stage to perform authentic dance, the event is also positioned as creating an environment that will produce medalists from Nagano who will compete on the world stage in the future.

Twenty years ago, there were few places to learn breaking in Nagano, and dancing itself was a challenge. Now, over 100 young people are dreaming, winning Japan’s best divisions and placing in the top prizes at the World Youth Championships, and embarking on a powerful journey “from Nagano to the world.” Breaking is a culture that naturally fosters not only technique and expressiveness, but also respect, initiative, and diversity. We hope to apply these values to education and community development, supporting the growth of young people while respecting their individuality. This event aims to establish breaking in Nagano while also creating a space where young people can talk about their dreams, take on challenges, and shine in their own way.
