Tomi City Press Release: September 17, 2025 [Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture] Fire Art Festival 2025 – Nature, Art, Food, and Music – Held at Art Village Park An experiential festival where culture and nature resonate with each other, themed around “Sansan – Fire and Water Coloring Autumn” Two days where everyone, from children to adults, can experience culture and the arts. The “Fire Art Festival 2025,” held at Art Village Park in Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture, features pottery created by local residents, fired in traditional climbing kilns, and features over 100 workshops, stalls, and a music stage. Through experiences that weave nature and art, we hope to connect the rich sensibilities and culture of the region to the future.

Ceramics created by local residents will be fired in a traditional climbing kiln at Art Village Park, located in the Kitamimaki district, an area associated with the Sue ware culture of the Nara and Heian periods. This project contributes to the preservation and utilization of local cultural resources. 2. Through pottery classes and other events, we will enrich opportunities for citizens, especially children, to become familiar with cultural and artistic activities and cultivate rich sensibilities and imagination. 3. In addition to experiential workshops and concerts that make the most of the beautiful, naturally-filled features of Art Village Park, we will also be expanding the number of stalls where people can experience the local lifestyle and food culture, creating an environment where residents can easily enjoy a variety of cultural arts. Climbing Kiln Firing To fire pottery works created by children and others in the city, the kiln was lit in the early hours of Friday, October 10th, and the kiln was opened on the 12th. Firewood will continue to be added until around noon on Sunday. On the night of Saturday the 11th, when the kiln temperature reaches its highest, four flames will shoot out from the climbing kiln.
