While they excel in cyberwarfare, they also possess remarkable physical abilities, utilizing their advanced prosthetic bodies. This work, commonly referred to as “S.A.C.”, is the first Ghost in the Shell television series. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the 26-episode series features a parallel world to Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell, depicting the unit in 2030, a time when Motoko had never merged with the “Puppet Master.” In 2005, a compilation film titled Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex The Laughing Man was produced, condensing all episodes into a roughly 2 hour and 40 minute compilation centered around the Laughing Man incident, which is the central theme of the series.
