The story follows the cyborg protagonist, Shiba Hiroshi, who transforms into the giant robot “Steel Jeeg” through a combination system and fights the evil Great Jammer Kingdom. The innovative setting based on the original work by Go Nagai and Tatsuo Yasuda, and the powerful music by Chumei Watanabe, excited children at the time. In Italy in particular, it gained explosive popularity under the title “Jeeg Robot d’acciaio,” establishing itself as a national anime. The success of the Italian live-action film “What They Called Steel Jeeg,” released in 2016, is still fresh in people’s minds, and it continues to have a tremendous influence as a symbol of Japanese robot anime in Europe. 【About Composer Chumei Watanabe】 Chunmei Watanabe, whose 100th birthday will be on August 19, 2025, is known as a master of anime and special effects music, having composed the music for over 200 works throughout his lifetime.
