The dignified appearance of the Shosoin Repository made a lasting impression on me even as a child, and when I heard that music would be created using these treasures, I was so moved that I felt glad to be alive. I hope that everyone will realize that with the keyword Shosoin, digital and analog can become one, and that it will give them hope for the future.” [Seiji Kameda Profile] Born in New York, USA in 1964. He has produced and arranged for many artists, including GLAY, Ringo Sheena, Spitz, Ken Hirai, and Ikimonogakari. He won the Arrangement Award at the Japan Record Awards in 2007 and 2015, and the Japan Academy Award for Excellence in Music for the film “Ito” in 2021. Since 2019, he has been sharing the appeal of music in various ways, including serving as executive committee chairman of the Hibiya Music Festival, a free event offering musical experiences across genres. Photo x Shosoin Shosoin Comment from Mikiya Takimoto (Photographer) “Since 2020, I’ve been visiting around 200 temples and other locations in Kyoto, taking photos as my own work. I never imagined that I’d be able to photograph Shosoin with the full cooperation of the Imperial Household Agency’s Shosoin Office at this exact time, so I was incredibly happy. I hope that viewers can sense the weight of history that has been passed down from person to person for 1,300 years, and that Shosoin is a place filled with people’s thoughts.” [Profile of Mikiya Takimoto] Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1974. Drawing on the experience and skills cultivated while working with a variety of subjects, including portraits and still lifes, his works, captured from a unique perspective, have earned him high praise both in Japan and abroad. His representative works include “LUMIÈRE,” “PRIÈRE,” and “LAND SPACE,” and he served as cinematographer for Hirokazu Koreeda’s films “Like Father, Like Son” and “Our Little Sister,” as well as the Netflix series “Like Ashura.” Ceramics × Beautiful Patterns Comment from Michiko Kamee (ceramist and painter) “When I heard about this project, I was excited about the opportunity to try something new with the Shosoin treasures as its theme, but at the same time, I felt a sense of pressure. I believe the Shosoin treasures, which crossed the sea long ago, have been carefully protected for 1,300 years, even containing the memories of the emperors and empresses who came across the sea. I hope everyone will use all five senses to appreciate the exhibits.” [Michiko Kamee Profile] Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1978. She studied at the Kyoto College of Traditional Crafts. After graduating, she moved to Europe and Asia, honing her miniature painting skills. Using Kyoto Satsuma ware techniques, which emphasize precise lines and color usage, she creates works that meticulously depict natural flowers. In addition to a solo exhibition at Nihonbashi Takashimaya, he has participated in special exhibitions and art fairs such as Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore, Asia Hotel Art Fair Hong Kong, and KOGEI Art Fair Kanazawa. He has also worked on cover designs for Paperblanks. New exhibits also available at the Tokyo exhibition!

Shosoin, a “treasure trove of miracles,” has preserved and passed down 9,000 treasures above ground for nearly 1,300 years. This exhibition, supervised by the Shosoin Office of the Imperial Household Agency, is the first immersive exhibition to allow visitors to fully experience the beauty of the treasures and the history of Shosoin spanning over a thousand years. The exhibition space combines ultra-high-definition video projected on a giant screen with “reproductions” that recreate the appearance of the Shosoin treasures as they were when they were created, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the treasures. In addition, you can experience the miracle of 1,300 years with your whole body through the exhibition of the legendary fragrance “Ranjatai,” recreated for the first time in history, and newly composed music using the sounds of treasures such as the “Radenshitan Gogenbiwa.” *The actual Shosoin treasures will not be on display. ■Tokyo Exhibition Overview Exhibition Title: Shosoin THE SHOW—Feel.
