ABEMA, the new television of the future, is pleased to announce that it will be broadcasting its original variety show, “A Car Left at the End of the World,” starting at 9:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025. The “Left Something at the End of the Earth” series (commonly known as “Sekahate”) is a documentary variety show that explores questions such as “Why do people travel?” and “What is the purpose of this journey called ‘life’?” by leaving famous people behind at the ends of the earth and providing a glimpse of the local area and the interactions they have on their journey. The first series, “We Left Hiroyuki at the End of the World,” aired in 2023, and began with businessman Hiroyuki Nishimura (hereafter referred to as “Hiroyuki”), also known as “Japan’s most logical man,” being abandoned in the middle of the Namibian desert. Actor Masahiro Higashide joined him as his partner, and they traveled across Africa in a harsh environment where logic doesn’t apply. The second series, aired the following year in 2024, was titled “We Left Hiroyuki and Higashide at the End of the World,” and saw Hiroyuki and Higashide attempt a crossing of South America together. During the journey, Higashide visited the Uyuni Salt Flats for the first time in 13 years, witnessing the breathtaking views, and at one point she was overcome with emotion and brought to tears. The series even portrayed the changes in his emotions as a person, presented in their own honest terms. In the third installment, which will begin airing on Sunday, September 21st at 9 PM, Kuruma from the comedy duo Reiwa Roman will appear as “I Left My Car at the End of the World.” Kuruma, who has never traveled abroad since he was a child and is on what will become his first time abroad, is left behind on a remote island off the southern tip of Bangladesh, approximately 4,800 kilometers from Japan. As with previous series, the group will embark on a two-week journey across South Asia, relying solely on land routes such as local buses and hitchhiking.
