In 1982, won the 28th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Boys and Girls category for “Touch” and “Miyuki.” In 2008, he won the 54th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shonen category for “Cross Game.” Achieved the remarkable feat of selling over 200 million copies of the manga.
