This is the fifth-oldest tournament, including major tournaments. The first tournament was won by current JLPGA advisor Hisako Higuchi. Past winners include renowned pros such as Ayako Okamoto, Yuko Moriguchi, Mayumi Hirase, Michiko Hattori, and Akiko Fukushima. In the 2000s, Ai Miyazato, Sakura Yokomine, Momoko Ueda, and Chie Arimura all won. Last year, at the 51st tournament, Yuka Yasuda held on to the lead despite difficult conditions that required a shortened 27-hole course due to rain, marking her first victory in her fifth year as a pro.
