“An Evening of Classical and Contemporary Polish Song” will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 (national holiday) at Ryogoku Theater X (Theatre Kai) (2-10-14 Ryogoku, Sumida-ku, Tokyo). Tickets Here The renowned coloratura soprano, Katarzyna Dondarska, performs in Japan for the first time – Weaving the poetry of Chopin and Mickiewicz with contemporary music – Poland’s leading coloratura soprano, Katarzyna Dondarska, will make her long-awaited debut in Japan. With her clear, limpid voice, she captivates audiences with a repertoire that makes the most of the Polish language, from elegant classical songs to innovative contemporary pieces. This performance will focus on love poems by Adam Mickiewicz, a poet emblematic of Polish Romanticism, as well as songs by Frédéric Chopin, who composed songs inspired by his homeland. While Chopin is known in Japan as a piano composer, this is an extremely rare opportunity to experience his songs performed with Dondarska’s incomparable voice. In addition, she will perform contemporary songs incorporating dance. Her voice, resonating throughout the theater space, is at times light and at other times deeply moving, sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
