Girlfriend) from her major debut album, “Kore Color.” The sight of the approximately 10,000 audience members clapping and chiming in alongside Koresawa’s singing was truly breathtaking. In front of the packed house, Koresawa seemed overwhelmed, saying, “I’ve finally made it to Budokan! I’m going to sing a song I’ve always wanted to sing here,” and performed “Kimi no Band,” a song she’s been singing since before her debut. She performed this song in front of a large crowd of fans, expressing her gratitude to the fans who attended her concerts even before she had even made her mark. I was also thrilled by the special arrangements made just for this day, such as changing the line, “If my favorite band becomes really, really popular someday, I want to go see a live show with you” to “I want to go to Budokan with you.” The visual production, which made full use of illustrations by Uchibori Shinpe, was also a highlight of the performance. During the medley, which included “Do You Still Resent the fact that Only My Big Sister Had a Room?”, “Meow Meow Meow,” “The Night Before the Date,” and “Punpun,” videos of Reko-chan moving vividly to the scenes of each song captivated the audience. During the call-and-response between songs, Koresawa surveyed the audience, asking questions like, “Are you an eldest daughter like me?” and “Do you have a cat?” “There’s one thing I’d like to confirm. The number of older men who attend my shows has been decreasing recently. Can I check how many of them are still here at Nippon Budokan?” she asked, humorously addressing the fanbase that supported her early days, her powerful, low voice reverberating throughout the venue. While she sympathizes with women in their teens and twenties, Koresawa’s popularity across all ages and genders is largely due to these affectionate exchanges.

A session by the “Kuma-san Band,” longtime Koresawa supporters Kei Higuchi (guitar), U (drums), Shoko Nakamura (bass), and Manami Kitamura (keyboards), livened up the floor. After the session ended, Koresawa appeared from the second floor of the stage dressed in a luxurious outfit. Her pale pink long dress was layered with ruffles, and the heart decorations scattered around the hem sparkled and shone with every movement. She had also changed her hairstyle to a half-up style with a large ribbon. After filling the venue with a warm atmosphere with “Bath Time,” she strummed her acoustic guitar and powerfully sang “Atashi ga Shindemo.” She then called out, “Can you all say that line? Let’s go together!” and gave the familiar title call, “This is dedicated to all my ex-boyfriends. Listen to ‘SSW’!”, uniting the hearts of the Korens. After finishing “SSW”, the venue fell silent. As smoke rose from the stage, she sang one of her early hits, “Tabako.” Koresawa sang with a dignified voice while strumming her guitar, and the audience listened intently.

This year marks the eighth anniversary of her major debut, but she confessed that the road to success wasn’t smooth, saying, “There were times when I wondered when I’d finally be able to perform at Budokan, and wondered if I was taking a detour.” “I was super nervous before my performance, but I was able to cheer myself up by telling myself, ‘All the friends and Collens I’ve met so far are on my side, so it’ll be fine.’ Looking back, I realize that even though it may have been a detour, the view was incredibly beautiful. There were unpleasant times, but I’m glad I walked this path, thanks to everyone who’s supported me up until now and everyone who came for the first time today,” she said. The song she absolutely wanted to sing at Budokan was “Saigo no Yukyuu.” “I still wasn’t confident that I could make a living as a musician, but I wrote this song when I quit my part-time job and decided to try believing in myself for once,” she recalls. The lines, “Tell me this detoured dream of mine/Call it right and beautiful,” resonated with passion, touching the hearts of her fans. Next, next to Higuchi Kei, she began softly singing “This Love Won’t Be Scooped.” At one point, she appeared on stage on a swing and sang a relaxed, sad song. She also announced that she would be releasing a surprise new song on September 17th, the day after the performance. “Do you all really love yourself? There are days when I feel I love you and days when I really hate you, but I hope there are as many days as possible when you love yourself. I put my heart into this song, hoping that everyone will love themselves the most,” she said, before debuting her new song, “I LOVE ME.”

As the sound of a pipe organ rang out, the curtain opened and Koresawa appeared wearing a pure white dress and holding a bouquet. Accompanied by the majestic sound, she sang the wedding song “I’m Going to Become a Bride.” Then, the clock on the screen struck 12, and the atmosphere changed completely. Surrendering herself to the glamorous ensemble and groove played by the band, Koresawa removed her veil and long skirt and changed costumes again. She then confidently delivered “Cinderella,” a song from her indie days that depicts the resilient side of a young woman.

That’s why I called my boyfriend over. Can I introduce him?” she asked, calling out Inu-kun, and sang “Cheating, Don’t Cheat” with choreography. She then added, “Summer’s almost over, but I want to go on a summery date,” and a trolley resembling a car appeared. Riding in the car driven by Inu-kun, Koresawa sang “Paper Driver” as she crossed the floor. After the date, Koresawa was satisfied, but she accidentally discovered a message from Inu-kun’s cheating partner on his smartphone. Unable to bear Koresawa’s anger and Korenz’s sharp gaze, Inu-kun ran away as fast as he could. Heartbroken, Koresawa powerfully sang the positive breakup song “You’re the Cutest!” to inspire herself. Up until this point, Koresawa’s face hadn’t been shown on the monitor, but for a moment, her bare face was shown in full view, delighting her fans.

That’s why I try to plan as many important days as possible, so I can meet everyone as much as possible. Today’s Nippon Budokan concert, too, I thought the Correns would be happy, so I decided to go ahead with it, even though it’s a weekday!” she said, explaining the reasons for her decision to hold the concert and thanking the audience. Additionally, “This (Budokan) isn’t the end goal,” she said, revealing that there were some performances that couldn’t be realized that day. “It was my dream to fly in the sky during a live concert, and I actually wanted to make a runway and run around, but it was impossible to make everything happen today (laughs). I’ll definitely do my best to perform at venues bigger than this in the future, so will you follow me until I fly in the sky and walk down the runway!?” she said, promising further leaps forward, and the audience sang “Go to the Family Restaurant!” in unison. During the final number, “(Heart) Jinsei (Heart),” the audience formed heart shapes with their hands and sang along with Koresawa, filling the venue with a sense of happiness. At the end of the song, confetti flew and the trolley was once again formed. This strengthened the sense of unity with the audience, bringing the concert to a spectacular close.

The strength of her songs, her ability to captivate the audience, and her strong bond with her fans—everything she’s built up to that
point—combined to create a huge success. These achievements were surely achieved because Koresawa has pursued her ideals with conviction. And while she herself must have been feeling overwhelmed, she kept it to herself and acted with her usual smile, which was also memorable. She performed with all her might, as always, and spoke naturally during the MC, delivering her love to the Collens. Her attitude evoked her pride as an entertainer, while also revealing her determination to aim for even greater heights, using Budokan as a milestone. As announced in the ending video, Koresawa will be holding the “Koresawa Zepp LIVE 2026 Lovely Punk Tour” at five Zepp venues across the country from January to February 2026. With the promise of bringing fans to an even bigger stage in mind, keep an eye on Koresawa as she takes this new step. Text: Jinbo Mirai Photography: Kosaka Shigeo/Hashimoto Rui Setlist 01.
