Yokohama is the birthplace of railways. Beginning with the opening of the Yokohama-Shinbashi line, the city has developed through the expansion of its railway network. Since Yokohama Station moved to its current location, the area has grown with the station’s expansion and development. It is now the prefecture’s largest commercial facility area, and Yokohama Station is one of Japan’s largest terminal stations. Yokohama Station, which has supported the development of the city, is celebrating Railway Day, the anniversary of the opening of Japan’s first railway line. This year, 16 commercial and service facilities in the Yokohama Station area and six railway companies are collaborating to hold the 13th annual Yokohama Station Festival. During the event, a variety of events will be held, including a digital stamp rally around the station, events related to railways and local Yokohama, and exclusive gourmet food.
